Hi! My name is Anya Butler - I am a Los Angeles/UK based artist with a BFA in Character Animation from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). I am currently working on a Kickstarter launch campaign for the pilot to my series concept "Stuck in the Globosphere" as well as creating educational content for artists on YouTube (200k subscribers).
I have over five years of professional experience, primarily in character and prop design. Additionally, I have professional direction, animation and writing experience. My favorite part of the creative process is brainstorming with others and finding creative solutions, wether that be for artistic, budgetary or other issues. I also have experience in the non-animation world, including direction and performance for theater, scenic design, fashion design and more. Long story short, I truly love trying and learning as many new skills as possible, making me a versatile creative.
I was born and raised in the English countryside, meaning much of my art is inspired by it! I am also informed by my Russian/American roots: I explore the idea of not quite belonging to any one culture. I love injecting whimsy into the everyday, making the ordinary ✨extraordinary.✨ I also adore the colour yellow and overusing exclamation points!! They say diamonds are a girl's best friend but I prefer freelance gigs ;)
When not drawing, I'm either tending to my online store, editing videos for my YouTube channel or making cool new outfits. I also really like fiddling around and making music in Logic Pro lol.
